Tapping Pass 1956

Around 50 years ago, when Malaysia was still referred to as Malaya, grandma worked as a rubber tapper. A tapping pass was issued for her by the British.

Normal Family

People say it's normal to have problems in family, because almost every family has a problem.

Many chose to believe they can't do anything about it and strive to believe the problems literally can't be solved. Then they'll decide to live with it believing that "everybody is having the same problem and it's ok". A seed of that idea will be planted in their mind and it'll be passed on from generations to generations.

Does it mean that it is normal to live unhappily dreaded by the problem? That is so not normal.

Naming Chinese Baby

It's not easy to name a Chinese baby; I had to refer to the 50-year-old Chinese dictionary in my house.

"The name has to have a wood with fire. Or maybe earth with a little water."

Gosh.

We even have to worry about baby's future school teachers not being able to spell and type the name in the class attendance list.

Oh well...

We have a new baby

A new baby just arrived! He's Princess Lulu's brother. His lips are as red as rose, can you see?
This boy is definitely going to grow up as a handsome gentleman. I'm feeling very honoured her mom asked me to think of a name for him.

Oh I just couldn't stop sniffing at him while I was holding him - he smells so milky! Babies smell the best in the world, thus the conclusion.

Mid-Autumn

"Do you think we can see a light at the end of the tunnel?"

孔明灯. The balloon is ready!

Maybe he needs some time.

There he goes!

"Remember to say hello to grand-grand-ma"

He finally met the Moon.

New LCD

Old laptop's screen is not displaying properly but some weird distorted lines. So I bought a LCD (hp w185) that costs RM388. It's a decent piece. Guess my old friend still can stick around for some time.

孟兰节

孟兰节 is a ceremony on the 17th during the month of July in Chinese Calendar. In Chinese belief, July is the month when the prisoned souls in hell are released into the human world. It's like the ghosts taking holiday in this month.

Every year on that day, there'll certainly be a celebration at the old basketball court in front of the village's temple. Foods and stuffs will be presented for the ceremony, and kids will be busy having fun playing among themselves, or watching the live stage acting and singing performance.

Every year we'll prepare a piggie. It looks gross lying there, but it tastes good =P

Lulu is socially very active. She can make friends in minutes. Now that's a new one. Hehe!

Brisik

Jaya One was still an unattractive construction site during my graduating year. It surprised me by looking at how developed it is now, and the kind and number of restaurants you can find there. Students studying at UTAR PJ campus are just getting luckier huh.

Brisik is one of the few unique ones.

Like the hanging clock. That's convenient.
Some restaurants just don't put clock. I always wonder if there's a reason for that. Are they trying to make customers to stay longer by forgetting about the time? Heh

I found my favourite food at Brisik: Fried Mushroom.

I just realised green curry isn't really my thing.

RIP

Grandmother in Kedah just passed away yesterday night. It's considered a Sudden Death as she's been alright (although not without illness). She was just talking to my mother that afternoon. She finished her plate that afternoon.

It's an utter shock: nobody was expecting her leaving before grandfather, especially when grandfather seems much much weaker than her.

Though we're not close, but it's sad that she wasn't able to see me for the last time.

Sigh. Can't imagine if there's anyone who's much much closer me to leave in this way.
Gone without last word. Gone without goodbye.

Everyday should be the Last Day for everybody.

Graduation

老妹's graduation ceremony was on last Sunday. It was a hectic day.

My younger sister, who used to look like my identical twin, is finally leaving the school and becoming a working adult. Sigh.

I always hope that she'll face less problems and less challenges than what I have faced in life.
I hope that she'll get a job that she likes, and earn a living without worrying too much about it.
I hope she'll meet a great guy who loves her and can take care of her in the future.
And I also hope that she'll be able to pursue a career in the entertainment industry, and to be able to sing her heart out for the rest of the world, for the rest of her life.

I'm now writing this from Sime Darby Medical Centre, Outpatient, room 426.
As if things couldn't get any worst, granny slipped a step and fell down in hospital. -__-

The stitches and bandage, is the result of falling on her very own walking stick.

But lucky enough, the worse scenario we've been preparing to encounter, didn't take place. Still, we shall wait till Dr Mazidah come again with all the reports from scanning.

I stayed overnight last night, and probably will do so for tonight as well.

It's breakfast time for granny.

Cheers.

Realising I'm too lazy to take photo recently...

A very old photo. Last year?

This was last Saturday. My "god-daughter" :)

Last Sunday Karaoke with Grace, Dennis.

So this is the only photo I took.
Happy to get baby and Grace to meet Dennis as well :)

Granny isn't feeling well again. She's admitted to hospital on Sunday, exactly when I was having Korean food dinner with Grace, Dennis and baby. There was a little emotional complication at that point of time, but I tried not to ruin the supposedly cheerful dinner. Heh.

The korean dinner was great! Happy to see everybody's laughing at the jokes that each other made. Really happy to see Dennis gets along pretty well with baby.

Get well soon granny.

SNC00263 by MAX CHEE-HORNG LAW.

Sometimes, it's difficult to see what makes a thing more important than the other.

Family Tie vs Friendship?

It's totally subjective, I think. Any fight started from it is totally pointless, because different people have different standards. Most people blame their upbringing for the decision they're going to make.

I blame the disappointment I've seen too much in my family. So I opted for Friendship until the alarm went off.

Sometimes I wonder why I have to give up on other things for the thing that already disappointed me a few times. To my surprise, my natural instinct to care, is now only half as strong as when I was 12. The passion for re-building or maybe cherishing family-ship is no where to be found - not even under my carpet.

"麻木" is the word of the day.

But still. Family is family.

Small issues that I thought were insignificant are apparently making me a relatively less filial in the eyes of the others. Thus the fights with those who are relatively more filial than me.

Stupid. Hate to be associated with the word "ignorance". Hah.

It's time to rethink your priority.

p.s: Hope grandma is going to be fine.

Today is 发记-day. It's a tradition of almost 10 years. (More, or less? Not sure.)
发记 is like our family-trusted restaurant for normal saturday night dining, or even special event dining.

They just put on a new wall picture. 老妹 was criticizing the people in the picture, and questioning the logics behind.

It's a good point that she found out all people drawn in the picture seems like having eyes all closed, and she described them as "having meal while sleeping".

But I think maybe it's because they all have small eyes and single eyelids le. The gene of small eyes and single-eyelid runs in the family. Aha!

See, my logic is better.

A New Acer Desktop for a new POS counter at aunt's hardware shop.
RM1260 for a complete desktop with 20" screen (excluding speakers) - Not bad.

Aunt May said it looks gorgeous. But I don't think so. I think I'm already used to the hardware design of Mac.

*Note: PC and Mac are almost the same - they both create problems once in awhile. It's just that Mac shows the problems in a more elegant way heh.

My own time record of putting together a desktop is around 10 minutes. Kind of slow hey?

Bla bla bla. Who am I racing with?

IMG_7502 by MAX CHEE-HORNG LAW.
Got teeth cleansed at the dental. The plaque... gosh~ It explains why my gum has been bleeding so frequently that it no longer gains the same level of attention from me as before.

So, today, once and for all. Good.

But I think the dentist really put quite an effort on my gum. She even gave me some liquid to gargle in order to so-called "fasten the recovery of my gum, to become healthy again". So I guess my gum has been quite sick. Yikes...

It's been at least 10 years since the last time I went to see a dentist, you know.
(Geng right? For someone who always skips brushing teeth at night.)

I genuinely thought seeing dentist is not something to be afraid of. But today when I heard the machine in her hand going "zi~zi~zi" like a chainsaw trying to saw a tree, suddenly the once familiar scenes in psycho flicks e.g. torturing by hitting foot's thumb with hammer or pilling off the nails from fingers, came to my mind.

And when she is "digging" my mouth - Sei lo... I was really afraid that she'll poke my gum and go straight to my brain from my mouth.

Ok la. Not that terror la. Exaggerated a little :P

But the truth is, even though the pain couldn't be totally considered as a "real" pain, the idea of some machine wandering in my mouth and around my tender flesh is just kong-pu.

What if her machine accidentally senget jor ha?

A big hole in my mouth lo. So my mouth will have 2 holes instead of one. Aha.

But seriously, don't think I wanna go anymore UNLESS it's necessary. So I think I'll be very hardworking brushing my teeth after food from now on.

Really don't like to open my mouth wide and can't properly swallow my saliva like usual. Don't really know how other people feel about it, but I think I'll get choked by my own saliva if I kept my mouth opened continuously for 10 minutes.

But intelligently enough I realised they are actually using a sucking machine to suck my saliva.

Damn that assistant dentist must be not doing her job properly that I felt like choking!

But I forgive her. It's less ridiculous than people who come for interviews without resumes!
Hah.

Good night.

p.s.: Why tooth fairy likes to collect teeth ha? Siao fairy...

I'm now sad and angry about a family problem that I can't get to solve.

And it's true that men cannot express themselves very well. So I shall go to do workout, while waiting for Friday's JB SG trip to come.

p.s.: Seriously, I'm starting to understand why people can consider their office workplace as an escape even when there are people trying to get away from there. Sigh. Problematic family.

SNC00153 by MAX CHEE-HORNG LAW.
Dad's birthday is today. We got him a new wallet.

In my previous impression, the brand Bonia is something for old people. You know, like those old aunties handbag with gold and blings. (Probably influenced by Auntie May.)

But today I totally changed my mind after visiting their store at Alamanda - the designs for men bags are indeed awesome!! I especially like the men bags for work. They are so fine, and probably affordable for me. (I haven't check the tag price, but then, I think the idea of investing in a high quality piece shouldn't go wrong here.)

Maybe I should get one before I start working.
(Toting around with a Converse sport handbag isn't really that pleasing when I'm in formal wear. Ahem.)

I always think it's difficult to buy what we really need. My thought is that shopping is only based on our own taste and instinct - that doesn't work all the time, I realised. :( So what I recently do is to tell the shopkeepers my whole situation and wait for their recommendations. To my surprise, that's a lot easier. Haha.

Shopping idiot is in the learning.

It might not be a grand event, but I'm still very proud of 老妹 for joining UTAR Idol 2009 :)

Though she lost, but she really earned something very valuable for herself. Perhaps, she also set a very important milestone in the history of our family.

Honestly, it's a very touching moment to see courage emerged in younger generations in our family (like mine) to start doing whatever they wanted to do without being bound to the traditional thinking - or sometimes, "misconception" - as cultivated in our family.

Yes - "Singing can't really earn money", "Singing no 出息", "Artists are all 不正经" - the subjective truths that we the younger generations have been injected with before time. But if there's a slightest interest in 老妹 for archiving her dream, I'll be proud and support her in all ways possible. Anyway, there's no member in our family who can sing in a competition lo.

Sigh. My mei mei is finally a grown-up! Ahaha...

*That flying pig photo was taken by baby sis. Genius right ahaha!

19th Thursday was 宝贝's birthday!! Haiz... our xiao bao bei is getting taller and huger AND - more boyish -__-. I know my gift (especially the hairband) would be the last thing on her wish list. But I always hope that she can be a little bit "princessy" e.g. wearing girlie-girlie stuffs and sitting like a fine lady.
FYI, she like to sit with legs wide apart!! So whenever she does that, I'll give her a stare [-_-] and followed by a shout: "Leng-lui pose, please!!!", then she'll obediently shorten the 1-mile distance between her legs and keep her legs crossed.

-__-

I always believe that manner buys respect, not the money; temperament defines your status, not the luxurious brands covering your body. Unmanneredly behaviours are not tolerated in our family. I think Baby sis needs to show some improvements in that department alright.

Just found the materials for building my home-made sign! :D
Should thank my cousin for her brilliant suggestion:

From what I noticed, Art Friend really have a lot of stuffs in there. The staff are very helpful and friendly as well. I told them what I want to make and they gave me recommendations of materials. Hah they saved my time. Or life. (time = life? Hmm yes u_u)
