Dear you,

Yeah I'm not dead yet. I'm good and kicking :)
A lot of things going on here around me in Maseru. Guess I'll have to spend quite some time here before I can go back to Botswana and then Malaysia.

You know what?
There's hardly any entertainment here.
To make it worst, it's really hard to get Internet Connection here in Maseru.
Apparently everybody stop doing businesses after 5. Shopping markets close at 6. And of course, only one Internet Cafe close at 7.30.

What they actually do after 8?
Make babies?
Watch TV?

I have no idea. *shrug*

But I don't really have the luxury to plan for what I want to do after work.
Will see what I can get on Sunday.

Have been knowing Jana from Germany and Mina from Greece since a few weeks ago.
People said Jana has a tendency to ask a lot of questions, but I think that is called Courage to Question.
Mina is fine but I still need some effort to get used to her Greek accent.

Accent. I guess mine is unidentified - American, British, Malaysian or nothing.
I'm learning to speak Standard English now.

Brand

Juicy Couture is so interesting that I have started a Juicy Research on it yesterday. I finally finished flipping through their annual financial report just now (a report, yes you get me right). Remember the last time I actually read a financial report was during my subject Entrepreneurship in the university.

Certain points mentioned in the report are impressive. The ideas about branding and image-building are among those that caught my eyes, because they are the topics that I have been interested in and studying. They just made me feel wanted to hit the market with my own brand or label. Muaha.

Here are the Juiciest Juices I've extracted from the report:

Irresistible Product
Our product goal is simple: To tempt and excite consumers with something they don’t need—but must have.

My Note: Fashion brands are most of the time selling things we don't really need. But, they are making their products so attractive that we feel like we have to own them – this is the power of Branding. Personally, I think the power of branding has to do with what the consumers see and how they feel about the brand. It like hypnotising the senses of the consumers by controlling what they see and how they think (for example, through advertising and printed advert).

Building Buzz’ and Brand Loyalty
Brand image is more than the quality or desirability of the product itself. Brand image comes from who is wearing the brand, what people are saying about it, where it is sold and how it is merchandised.

My Note: There's always a part of you that is trying to act like your role model. And, there's also always another part of you that wants you to be what you've always wanted to be. For example, Juicy Couture is classy, and you have always wanted to become, or to be perceived as a person with class. So the Brand Image is going to work on you in that way. The Branding magic is going to work harder if the brand Juicy is a favourite label of your favourite actor, or it's merchandised at your favourite shopping spot and presented in a very attrative pattern. The right combination of the mentioned dimensions can help creating a fanbase or a poll of followers who might not be able to notice the spell the brand-builders have casted on them. It's just like creating an illusion that the consumers have always wanted to attain or to make comes true. Eventually, the products sold will become "something they don't need – but must have".
